Firefly Photonics, a UI start-up company, was awarded a Demonstration Fund loan from the Iowa Economic Development Authority to support commercialization of mid-wave infrared light emitting diodes (LED) and photodetectors (PD) used in small, battery-operated methane and carbon dioxide sensors.
