Mihaela Bojin, PhD, CLP
Dr. Bojin joined the UIRF in 2013. She has an expertise in intellectual capital management (licensing, business and intellectual property assessment, partnerships) in a variety of areas (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, software, etc.) She is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) and a registered patent agent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mihaela serves as a Director on the Licensing Executives Society (LES) Board (Executive Committee, and co-chair of LES Education), the LES Standards Development Organization (SDO) Board, and the Midwest Research University Network (MRUN) Board. Mihaela served on the UI Staff Council for two 3-year terms, was part of the Executive Committee, and co-chaired several committees (HR, University Relations). She currently serves on the UI Research Council, and she is an advising member on behalf of UIRF on the UI Conflict of Interest in Research Committee. She has been included several times in the IAM Strategy 300, an elite global group of IP strategists.
Prior to joining the UIRF, Mihaela was a patent agent in a NY Intellectual Property practice group, where she managed complex patent dockets for U.S. and foreign pharmaceutical, chemical, and cosmetics clients. Mihaela also has extensive research and teaching experience gained as an assistant professor on tenure track at the City University of New York, and as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Davis, and at New York University. Mihaela has also taught classes on technology commercialization, IP, licensing, negotiation, and agreement drafting for LES and at Iowa. Mihaela holds a PhD in Chemistry from Cornell University, and a BSc in Chemistry from University of Bucharest, Romania.
